OUR NAME
“Artisanale” is the french word for craft, but in both languages it represents quality and uniqueness. In english, the word “craft” draws a line in the sand between art and functional creativity. Our craft beers or ales live between two words and in many cases between two worlds. In the end, when you break it down, there is a little art in any craft and in our case ART IS AN ALE.
OUR BEERS
We are an American style craft brewery using only the best raw materials. We combine the unique complexities found in craft recipes with the quality and consistency.
We brew 7 permenant beers year round and no less than 12 seasonals throughout the year. We make everything from a classic pale ale to a white stout. Though ales are our original passion, we also make lagers, sours, and barrel aged beers.

WHAT WE DO
ART IS AN ALE is a Franco-American family owned business run by a husband and wife team. Our brand identity brings together the elements and art and craft. All our packaging design is done in house and follows a consistent theme of art inspired labels because, as our name states, we believe beer making is an art. We brew, package, and sell beer from our brewery and taproom in Amboise, France. We produce more than two thousand hectoliters of beer each year and sell it throughout France in cafés, hotels, boutiques, bars and restaurants. Our beer is distributed in 30L kegs, 33cl bottles, 33cl cans, 44cl cans, and 75cl bottles. ART IS AN ALE brews everything from ales to lagers, sours to barrel aged, and we are always looking for new ways to combine unique and interesting flavors with the beer styles we love the most. Take a look at our beers page for all the deets on what goes into our beloved brews. For more information about where to find our beers in France, please visit our beer locator page. If you are interested to talk about distribution outside of France, please contact us directly from our contact page.
We also showcase our latest brews and our love for street food in our taproom in downtown Amboise. Two blocks from the Amboise castle or a short walk from the final home of Leonardo da Vinci, the Clos Lucé our taproom is in the center of everything Amboise has to offer. There you can find all 7 of our permenant beers on draft and the most recent seasonals. You can also enjoy some tacos or a pulled pork sandwich. The taproom is open all year long, with extended hours during the summer season, 2 big screen T.V.s to catch a match as well as multiple seating areas including outdoors on our terrace.
We also love to party! We provide beer for many major local festivals, expo at most major craft beer festivals in France, and sling beers at local tap take-overs in the area and neighboring regions. You can find out where we’ll be on our events page. Last but not least, we are proud to have competed and won multiple awards at the France Beer Challenge and the International Beer Competition at Lyon.
